Department of Language & Literature

The Department of Language & Literature houses the English and Modern Foreign Language programs of the university. Majors offered are English and Spanish, and minors include English, Spanish, French, and Creative Writing. The faculty of the Language & Literature department are a diverse group, with British and Venezuelan faculty members adding to the voices of American faculty members hailing from North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia, all of whom are accomplished and published writers and teachers. Each faculty member is committed to the rigorous study of language and literature through both the practice and teaching of critical reading, writing, and discussion. Upper-level majors courses are small seminar style, allowing for the kind of educational experience Mars Hill prides itself upon.
