A Basic Application of Design through Drawing and Painting

Location: Moore Fine Arts Building

Camp Description

Instructor Nash Richardson will guide students in this introductory camp focused painting and drawing. Students will begin by focusing on learning how to observe the natural world and real- life forms, and later translate those observations into shape and line. Students will utilize their newfound skills to complete a drawing project that is both observational and inventive. Students will be introduced to various painting styles and apply their favorite chosen style(s) into an abstraction exercise. On Friday afternoon, campers will display their works in a makeshift gallery setting and invite friends and family members to view their creations.

This camp is open to all levels from rising 7–12 grades.

All camp materials are provided as well as light snacks & bottled water. Students are required to bring a bagged lunch.

Optional aftercare $100

Students are welcome to stay until 5:30 p.m. for a supervised session of outdoor free time, games, and more.

Instructor Bio

Nash Richardson is a rising senior at Mars Hill University studying visual arts with a concentration in graphic design and photography. Over the course of their independent and academic pursuits of art, they have experimented with many styles, mediums, and subjects that they will pass along to the campers.
