Data Analytics Minor

Data Analytics

The Data Analytics Minor offers a quantitative complement to any major. This interdisciplinary minor prepares students to manipulate, analyze and interpret data to solve problems involving large datasets such as those found in many natural and social science disciplines. These skills can be applied to research in fields as varied as business, health care, sociology, economics and biology. Data Analytics cultivates knowledge and skills with the organization of databases, practice of statistics, and applications of computer sciences necessary to query and test hypotheses with large multi-dimensional datasets.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Effectively organize and validate datasets.
  • Plan and design programming solutions for data management and statistical analyses.
  • Implement appropriate models of data analysis to solve a problem in natural or social sciences.
  • Summarize and explain an analytical problem, relevant analyses, and the results of their solution through oral presentations and written reports containing appropriate data visualization.
