Zoe & Cloyd will be featuring material from their latest release, Songs of Our Grandfathers, which is an homage to their respective bluegrass and klezmer roots. For this show, they will be joined by long-time collaborator Kevin Kehrberg on bass, and innovative musician Ben Krakauer on banjo and guitar.
The unique “klezgrass” music of Zoe & Cloyd springs from their rich family traditions and complementary backgrounds and styles. Descending from a lineage of klezmer and jazz musicians, Natalya trained classically in her home state of Massachusetts before moving south in 2004. John, a twelfth generation North Carolinian and grandson of pioneering bluegrass fiddler, Jim Shumate, is a 1st place winner of the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest and the Hazel Dickens Songwriting Contest.
In 2024, Zoe & Cloyd performed at numerous events including the Westport Folk & Bluegrass Festival in Ireland, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in upstate NY, and also returned as hosts of A Swannanoa Solstice at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts in Asheville. In 2023, Zoe & Cloyd released Songs of Our Grandfathers (their fifth studio album on Organic Records), which has been enthusiastically received with feature articles in Bluegrass Unlimited, No Depression and the Bluegrass Situation. Zoe & Cloyd delight audiences with soaring harmonies and heartfelt songwriting, seamlessly combining original bluegrass, klezmer, old-time and folk with sincerity and zeal.
Tickets will be priced on a sliding scale (for equity reasons) and seating is first-come, first-served. Doors will open at 7:00 and the show will start at 7:30 pm.
This concert is supported by a generous grant from the Madison County Tourism Development Authority. The Ramsey Center is a proud site on the Blue Ridge Music Trails of North Carolina.
