Mars Hill University’s annual Day4MHU shattered records this year, raising $632,171 in just 24 hours, far surpassing the initial goal of $350,000. Held on March 26, the event rallied alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends to support the university’s mission.
“We are deeply grateful to our loyal alumni and friends whose generosity made this record-breaking Day4MHU possible,” said Greta Byrd, vice president for advancement. “In a challenging economic climate, their unwavering support demonstrates the profound commitment to our students, the Mars Hill Scholarship Fund, and other vital university priorities.”
This year, Day4MHU is dedicated to strengthening the Mars Hill Scholarship Fund, enhancing the Together We Rise Campaign for a new Campus Center, and expanding support for initiatives that impact current and future students. Donors also had the flexibility to designate their gifts to other areas of campus, including athletics, academic programs, and campus initiatives. Every donation, regardless of size, contributed to the success of the day.
Mars Hill University President Tony Floyd expressed his gratitude, saying, “This annual day of giving highlights the incredible generosity of our MHU family. Every gift—large or small—makes a difference in the lives of our students today and those who will join us in the future. We especially appreciate those who showed leadership in making substantial donations toward the completion of the Campus Center.” One of the main challenges of the day, the Blue and Gold Challenge was provided by Steve and Annette Francis of Columbia, South Carolina.
Beyond financial contributions, supporters played a key role in spreading the word through advocacy and social media, encouraging others to give and maximize matching opportunities throughout the day.
