During its annual Faculty-Staff Recognition and Appreciation Luncheon on May 10, 2018, Mars Hill University recognized 14 employees who are retiring in or at the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year. They are:

• Tess Burkett, professor of business administration, 10 years of service at MHU
• Iva Coates, assistant to the vice president of academic affairs, 25 years
• Ron Collins, associate professor of business administration, 7 years
• Bill Gregg, professor of theatre, 18 years
• Bill Hamilton, assistant professor of physical education, 18 years
• Pauline Johnson, instructor of history, 14 years
• Michael Kennedy, instructor of mathematics, 2 years
• Dan Lunsford, president, 20 years
• Jim Neadstine, facilities, 12 years
• Laurie Pedersen, instructor of sociology, 18 years
• Randy Proffitt, facilities, 6 years
• Joel Reed, professor of music, 33 years
• Lisa Tweed, facilities, 31 years
• Pam Weaver, administrative assistant to the director of athletics, 13 years
