The Southern Appalachian Chamber Singers will make their fifteenth appearances for Charleston SC’s Piccolo Spoleto Festival on May 27. This coming Saturday, May 20, the ensemble will be presenting a Spoleto Preview Concert at 4 pm in the sanctuary of the Mars Hill United Methodist Church. Selections to be performed include works by Stanford, Stroope, Tallis, Randall Thompson as well as original settings and arrangements of early American shape-note folk hymns. Featured soprano soloists are Mars Hill University alumni Tammy Clemmons Schwab and Chloe Corbin. The ensemble is accompanied by Brad Curtioff and conducted by its founder, Dr Joel F Reed of the Mars Hill University music faculty. The concert is free to all.
The singers’ Piccolo Spoleto concert will be performed in Charleston’s historic St. Philip’s Cathedral at 1 pm on May 27th. The Piccolo Spoleto concert is a non-ticketed event as well.
